On the momentous occasion of India's 77th Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was conducted at Government Degree College (GDC) Langate. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities, including Mr. Altaf Hussain Gado, the worthy Principal of GDC Langate, Dr. Barkat Hamid, Head of Department (HOD) of Urdu and Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani, Head of the Department (HOD) of Environmental Science at GDC Langate. The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the national flag and progressed with a series of engaging activities and acknowledgments.
Flag Hoisting Ceremony: The event commenced with the dignified unfurling of the Indian flag by Mr. Altaf Hussain Gado, the respected Principal of GDC Langate at sharp 7:45 AM. This symbolic gesture marked the official commencement of the celebration.
Welcome Address: The program was further enriched by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani, the HOD of Environmental Science at GDC Langate, who delivered the welcome address. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani extended warm greetings to all attendees and set the tone for the event's significance.
Principal's Address: During the valedictory function that followed, Mr. Altaf Hussain Gado, the Principal of GDC Langate, addressed the audience. He eloquently spoke about the historical importance and relevance of India's Independence Day, emphasizing the sacrifices made by countless heroes for the nation's freedom.
Role of Heroes in Independence: A significant highlight of the event was a presentation by Mr. Shahid Wali, a 2nd-semester student at GDC Langate. He eloquently briefed the audience about the pivotal roles played by various heroes in securing India's independence. His narration paid homage to the sacrifices and determination of those who contributed to the country's freedom struggle.Awards and Recognitions: The event was a platform to honor and recognize the achievements of students and staff members who had exhibited exceptional performances throughout the academic year. The following awards were conferred:
1. Best Employee of the Year: Mr. Naseer Ahmad Lone, the library assistant, was awarded for his dedicated service and contributions.
2. Best Academic Performance: Miss Sakeena, a 5th-semester student, and Miss Rabia, a 6th-semester student, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
3. Highest Attendance Award: Mohd Asif, a 6th-semester student, received recognition for maintaining exemplary attendance throughout the year.
4. Student of the Year: Mr. Shahid Wali, a 2nd-semester student, was acknowledged for his all-around excellence and contributions.
5. Best Sports Person of the Year: Mr. Junaid Ahmad, a 2nd-semester student, was celebrated for his remarkable achievements in sports.
6. Quiz Competition Awards: A team consisting of Mr. Mohd Asif, Mr. Umer, and Mr. Khalid secured the first position in the quiz competition held on Independence Day.
7. Moreover, Mr. Shahid Wali and his team clinched the first position in the quiz competition on Environment Day
