The theme of World Environment Day: 2023 is “Solution to plastic Pollution” the theme encourages us to take appropriate measures to tackle plastic pollution menace and show zero tolerance towards plastic pollution.

Govt. Degree College Langate under the banner ECO-CLUB, today on 5th June-2023 celebrated World Environment Day (WED) with an aim to raise mass awareness to take positive environmental actions to protect and improve our environment. The theme of World Environment Day: 2023 is “Solution to plastic Pollution” the theme encourages us to take appropriate measures to tackle plastic pollution menace and show zero tolerance towards plastic pollution.
A large number of students and all faculty members participated in the said event, The program started with all students and faculty members making a pledge to protect environment.
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani, Assistant professor- Department of Environmental Sciences in his speech highlighted the history, importance, and objectives of celebrating World Environment Week. He urges students to actively participate in activities related to environmental awareness and protection. He also highlighted the causes and consequences of plastic pollution, especially Single Use Plastics. He further suggested many plastic waste management practices to deal with plastic pollution.
Dr. Barkat Hamid, Assistant Professor-Urdu (In-charge Principal) also addressed the students regarding the protection and importance of the Environment.
A very informative and knowledge enriching Quiz Competition on environment was held for the participants. Three teams participated in the quiz competition, consisting of three rounds of questions. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. After a very close contest, Team-C (Shahid Wali, Faizan and Parvez Ahmad) secured 1st position.
Vote of thanks was tendered by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Assistant Professor EVS, he thanked all the participants present on the occasion. All the participants and faculty members were served with refreshment.
